Funky Baby Clothes

September 27th 2006 12:08
When there’s a new baby on the scene people tend to get a little touchy-feely. It’s bad enough when you’re pregnant and everyone wants to rub your growing bump as if they expect a genie to pop out – but once you have the baby, then all the fun begins. Suddenly you find yourself fighting off swarms of doting old ladies and young, clucky women wanting kisses and cuddles from your new bundle of joy.

Everyone loves a baby (well, almost everyone anyway). There’s something about that talcum powder smell, the softness of their skin and their happy gurgles that make adults just want to lavish affection on them.

For some parents this can, at times, become very annoying. Punkbebe has come up with an interesting range of t-shirts, one of which handles the above mentioned ‘over cuddling’ problem.

There’s a range of shirts and clothing available, with one-liners and tattoo like images. Some of the shirts are not to my liking and not something I would dress my baby in but there is a couple I’m going to purchase for upcoming baby showers.

Actually, a number of the prints would look pretty cool on adult shirts more so than babies.

My two favourites would have to be ‘Get your own baby’ and ‘What happens at Grandma’s stays at Grandma’s’.

Who says you can’t add a little spunk to blue and pink jumpsuits?

Check out www.punkbebe.com and let me know what you think!

Christmas Toys for Little Girls and Boys

September 21st 2006 06:22
I hate the build-up to Christmas. Ever noticed the number of car park wars that start happening around this time of year? I envisage these people rushing to get car parks out of fear that the latest Wiggles product will be sold out before they get to the cashier. Let’s not forget about those people who sit in the lane with a blinker on just waiting for someone to come out of the shop doors and to hell with the people behind them!

Then there’s the ‘lappers’ – these are the drivers that keep circling around and around the car park until the ideal park becomes available. Usually that’s the park closest to the entrance way so that they haven’t got far to push their massive load. The creaking trolley, which has an obvious wheel alignment problem, is usually filled with bargain buys from Big W and a couple of screaming, red faced children. Mum (or Dad) can usually be heard threatening an absence of presents from Santa if the little mites don’t shush it

Too Loud Lily

September 13th 2006 06:36
Block your ears and squeeze your eyes tightly shut – Too Loud Lily by Sofie Laguna is a kids book filled with loud voices and bright, flamboyant illustrations painted by Kerry Argent.

Every night we read a book in our house. It’s usually one picked from the hundreds that are tightly packed into the oak bookcase. If not from the bookcase then from one of the (not) neatly stacked piles in the corners of the lounge room

Curious George

There once was a chimp called George. He was very curious. Hence, he was called ‘Curious George’.

Curious George

George is the original ‘monkey see, monkey do’, getting himself into loads of mischief that will make both the kids and adults laugh. Based on the popular children’s book by Hans and Margaret Rey, Curious George is a film about companionship, believing in yourself and disturbing the peace as much as you can

‘Crunchy Crusty Worms’ and ‘Bubbling Brains’ – sounds like something out of a really bad B grade horror movie doesn’t it? These delightfully explicit titles are actually the names of some of the varied candy treats you can make from a Dr Dreadful – Looks Good, Tastes Great kit.

Retailing for anywhere between $30 and $40, this kit is packed with hours of fun for the littlies – and the grown ups too. Whilst there is a definite mess factor involved, the ‘eww’ factor makes it extremely enjoyable
