Time for Play... Time to Learn
August 8th 2008 05:09
All work and no play makes a dull person… or so they say.
Honestly, that is true. Same goes for children.
No matter what age group they are in, children should always be given the proper balance. Especially with kids of school age, they should never be hindered to being just themselves – being K-I-D-S!
It’s alright to limit their play time during school days. For example, give them 20 to 30 minutes of relaxation and play time when they get home. When they’ve had their rest, then that’s the time they should focus on their school works.
Friday nights and weekends, give them their time for themselves and allow them to play. Let them enjoy their time as kids. However, they should still be given a few simple chores like tidying up their room over the weekend.
Giving your kids the trust knowing that they will stick to your rules when it comes to having time for play and for their studies leads to both of you earning your confidence towards one another.
And when your kids know that you trust them and give them enough freedom, they will probably learn to take that attitude on until they mature.
